The Most Delicious Salad of All Time
The most delicious salad of all time? Yep. That’s what I said.
You will start to notice a theme with the meals we talk about; they are simple. When stuff is easy to throw together, it makes it much more possible that you will eat healthily.
The Power Salad
This is a basic salad with a base of organic green leaf lettuce washed and torn up into bite sized pieces. The main protein on it is turkey burger.
I buy ground turkey, a pound or two at a time, and make a bunch of turkey burgers with it so I have them on hand, ready to warm up. I am no skilled chef, and these are incredibly easy for me to make.
The Ingredients
- Ground Turkey
- Onion Powder
- Garlic Powder
- Coarse Black Pepper
- Dijon Mustard
- Worcestershire Sauce
- Raw Egg
- Breadcrumbs
- Avocado
- Sunflower Seeds
- Styrian Pumpkin Seed Oil
- Sea Salt
Instructions
Put the ground turkey in a bowl, and throw on some (sorry for the lack of measurements, I seriously just sorta shake this stuff onto it) onion powder, garlic powder, salt, coarse black pepper, a big plop of dijon mustard, a splash of Worcestershire sauce, a raw egg, and a big shake of breadcrumbs. I use a giant spoon and mix the whole thing up.
Ground turkey is pretty moist, so I don’t use a grill (don’t want it to fall through). I heat up a pan on the stove, spray with cooking oil, and heat each side on medium until cooked all the way through. Since we are putting these on a salad, it’s fine to cut one in half to make sure it’s cooked all the way through. I let them cool down a bit while I am preparing the rest of the salad.
The only other things I add to this salad are half an avocado and some roasted sunflower seeds, as well as my secret weapon: Styrian Pumpkin seed oil. This is a nutty, rich, delicious oil that comes from the Styrian region of Austria. You can get it easily on Amazon.
A drizzle of this on the top is all you need.
Simple ingredients. I often add a few cranks of fresh ground pepper and pink Himalayan sea salt.
Ok there is one more ingredient, it’s optional, but it sure adds to the goodness: one cut up strip of black forest bacon. We aren’t punishing ourselves you guys.
Like I said, best salad ever. If you try it out, please take a picture and send it back to us. Feel free to ask any questions about the recipe as well: I realize this is VERY casually written and I’m happy to clarify anything. Please know that I just throw this stuff together! The turkey burgers are very forgiving and you can add or subtract ingredients as you like.
